St. Ignatius Parish celebrates the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and First Reconciliation in Year 3 of Primary School.
Holy Communion is a Sacrament of Initiation, and so celebrating the first reception of this most holy sacrament calls for a joyous celebration. The celebration of First Holy Communion usually takes place on the Solemnity of Corpus Christi or a Sunday closer to that date.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is an encounter with Christ that provides healing and forgiveness for our souls. The Church expects that the first reception of this sacrament of forgiveness is celebrated just prior to the child’s first time going to the Holy Communion. In this way, the communicant will be in a state of grace, with heart, mind, and soul ready to make room for our Lord in Holy Communion.
